One chip and an laminated counter changes from beautiful to a-has-been. Laminate counters are expensive and it doesn’t make sense to change the whole counter top because of a few chips. The laminate in the picture was repaired with a simple home remedy. The corner was bumped with a hard object, which resulted in a chipped corner. To do the repair, you will need a 5 minute epoxy, and an assortment of acrylic paint. You can buy the small bottles of paint that you need from a hobby store. The brand that I used was called Folk Art. Mix a couple of the colors to match the color of the laminate. You only need a very tiny amount, so experiment until you get the exact color you are looking for. With a very fine brush, paint in the area to be repaired; you want to hide the dark colors beneath the laminate surface. Let dry for a couple of hours. Save some of the mixed paint to blend into the epoxy. Next mix the saved paint into some 5 minute epoxy. Mix in equal portions; 1/3 epoxy, 1/3 hardener, 1/3 acrylic paint. Mix well and then apply to the chipped area with a round pointed tooth-pick. If you are careful, nobody will be able to tell that the counter was ever chipped.
