House Coffee Plant

The Coffee plant is a beautiful plant and worth the extra effort and dedication to keep it growing, and staying healthy. Taking care of a coffee plant has to be one of the hardest plants to keep healthy.
Coffee plants do not tolerate changes in temperature or watering habits. Too dry, too wet, too hot, or too cold will result in the leaves yellowing and dropping.
One way to overcome problems, is to use a large pot to help keep the root moisture environment as constant as possible. A pot eleven inches by eleven inches is a good chose. The larger the pot, the better, use a clay pot, not plastic, as the soil needs to breathe.
Use regular potting soil and place in a westward location, coffee plants do not like direct morning or midday sun.
Water every Monday, and Friday, with 21 Oz. of filtered water. During Winter, because of dry air, add one extra glass of water.
In the winter keep the plant away from cold windows and drafts.

Tips

Place a note on a branch or near the pot to remind you of the watering days.

Mist the leaves several times a week, coffee plants like the moisture.

Coffee plants do not like temperature below 65 degrees F.

Coffee plants grow quite rapidly and will outgrow most pots each year.

If there are any mites or other bugs on the leaves, wipe them off with a slight soapy water, green soap is best.

A coffee plant does not like to be isolated from human company. Just like us, the coffee plant enjoys the aroma of fresh brewed coffee, therefore a kitchen location is a good choice. Good luck, and enjoy your coffee plant.
