How To Use This Room Lighting Calculator

This calculator is designed to calculate the lighting for a room or workshop.
Enter room length, and width in feet.
Enter Lumens Required per square foot. 80-100 is average.
This calculator does not calculate for ceiling higher than twelve feet.


Single fluorescent units distribute the lighting better than dual tube fluorescent units.
If you use double tube fluorcent units, use half as many units, as the single units.
Single 4ft. fluorescent tubes each use about 40 watts of electricity.

Choose fluorescent tubes with a color temperatuer of 5000k or higher,
for a natural daytime lighting.
