Calculate Slope of Land
Entry Form
How To Use This Slope Calculator.
To determine
the slope of land,
you need to know the
distance from top to bottom,
and the height of the drop. Drive
a short stake at the top, and a longer
one at the bottom, approximately the height
that will be level. The stakes must be solid, you
need to run a tight string between the two stakes.
Attach the string with a string level between the two
stakes, raise or the lower the bottom end until the reading
is level. If you do not have a string level, use a regular carpenter
level, hold it up against the under side of the string, and gently make
contact with the string. Raise or lower the bottom end of the string, until
the string is level. Measure the distance from the string to the ground, this is
the rise, measure the distance between the two stakes, this is the run. Enter these
two figures into the calculator, this will give you the rise per foot, and slope percentage,
