About FMI

Strategically located in the heart of Western Canada's seafood import/export centre, in Richmond, British Columbia, FMI has been supplying quality food products to the wholesale market since its inception in 1991.

Company History

FMI Food Marketers International was established in 1991 by Harry Guenther.  Formerly of J.S. McMillan, and BC Packers, Harry has a wealth of experience within the seafood industry and brought that expertise to start his own business.

FMI began as a supplier of fresh, frozen and canned salmon and value added fish products and has since  expanded its product line to include a host of brands producing a large variety of quality gourmet foods.  Today, FMI is involved in many different food products, living up to our name as an international food marketing company.

Company Business

Canned salmon and specialty salmon products are a very large part of FMI's business.  We can pack all retail and food service sizes.  In addition to regular packs of canned salmon, FMI has unique packs of canned smoked and/or natural skinless, boneless salmon, smoked oysters, and a full range of canned seafood pates.

FMI actively markets value-added frozen seafood to both the retail and food service markets in North America and overseas.  FMI can cut to order any species PBO, PBI, skin on or off, vacuum pack, IQF or shatter pack. FMI has the ability to offer their buyers the choice of using private label brands, such as Pantry Shelf and Presidents Choice or their own company labels.

FMI are the sales agents for CanGro Processing canned Steelhead, St. Jeans Gourmet canned seafoods, mustards and Chanterelle Mushrooms, Dungeness Development Associates canned East Point brand shrimp meat, and Kings' Gourmet's full line of gourmet smoked salmon and shrimp burgers.

FMI is always expanding its product lines and is

always on the lookout for new markets and new sources.  Our interest lies in diversifying our product base and developing new value-added food products.  Although our focus has been primarily in the seafood products area, we are involved in developing other products within the food industry.  We are always interested in shipping products anywhere in the world, having the personnel within FMI who are well versed in the requirements of shipping to many different countries.

Company Success

Boasting over 150 years collective experience in sales and marketing among its senior personnel, FMI's key to success is its focus on premium quality of all the products it markets. "It's our reputation for service that has kept our clients happy," says Harry Guenther, president and director of Food Marketers International Ltd.
