GABS Saddle was
designed by George Andrews, Courtenay, British Columbia,
Canada, as a result of Thousands of cycled kilometers.
George cycles almost
every day and has done so since he decided in May 1994,
at the age of 65 to cycle across Canada. He
completed the 'cross-country' journey in 1995 when he
cycled from Tofino, BC to Cape Spear, Newfoundland.
In June of 1996 he cycled to Salt Lake City, USA.
In the summer of 1996, he
cycled from Inuvik, Northwest Territories to Calgary,
Alberta. the above
photograph
is George leaving Inuvik on the 40 day journey to
Calgary. 800 kilometres of that journey was over
the shale gravel Dempster Highway. He well
remembers the nearly constant cleaning of the bicycle
gears over that stretch of road! In 1998, George
cycled from Toronto to Point Pelee, Ontario thus
completing the entire Trans Canada Trail.
In the summer of 1999,
George cyled from Courtenay to the Queen Charlotte
Islands. It was during that journey that he was
inspired to patent and market his unique bicycle saddle
design.
As you will
discover, this saddle is a novel combination of common
sense, comfort and durability.
