Beachcombing and Whale Watching
Hiking Trails - Day trails are well marked and range from 15 minutes to 4 hours in duration.
West Coast Trail - One of Port Renfrew's most popular attractions. It was first built as a lifesaving trail for shipwreck victims and is now part of the beautiful Pacific Rim National Park. The trail is approximately 75 km long and runs from Port Renfrew to Bamfield. It will take anywhere from 5 to 7 days to complete and is challenging for even the most experienced hikers.
Juan De Fuca Marine Trail - www.bcparks.gov.bc.ca The newest trail on the West Coast that runs 47 km from Botanical Beach to China Beach. It will take 3 to 4 days to complete but this multi-access trail can also be explored by day-hikers. There is no registration or user fee charged. Beginner and experienced hikers alike will enjoy this trail.
Botanical Beach - BC Provincial Park At low tide hundreds of tidal pools are accessible offering unique windows into the ocean floor. Killer whales, grey whales and sea lions can also be seen on occasion from this beach.
Red Creek Fir The largest standing Douglas fir in Canada. This tree is estimated at 700-1000 years old and has a circumference of 41 ft. The red creek fir is only 17 km. from Port Renfrew.
