Laurent and Radka skiing.
After returning from Mt. Damavand and hanging around in Tehran for another few
days, I journeyed on to Esfahan. Esfahan was the capital of the Safavid dynasty
in the 1500's and is filled with wonderous Islamic architecture. Here is a picture
of me, taken by my camera timer on the floor, in the splendid Emam mosque
A woman curled up in her Chador in the Emam Mosque.
Dome of Emam Mosque, these courtyards were so peaceful and quiet in the lazy
afternoon sun, nobody was around.
The entry niche to the Emam mosque, the blue-glazed Safavid tilework is amazing.
Me enjoying the Persian arch, on the Si-o-seh bridge, a very old and very famous
landmark of Esfahan.
The Ayatollah says: "Praying provides solace and comfort to distressed,
weary and troubled hearts, and is also the key to inner purity, and illumination
of the soul." Sometimes you find this on a wall, sometimes a Pepsi advertisement,
times are changing.
