HALBERTON
DEATH OF AN OLD INHABITANT
We regret to record the death, on Saturday last at Curham Farm, in this Parish, but his death was totally unexpected. Deceased was born at Moorstone Barton, Halberton, but went to London at an early age, where he resided for many years. He afterwards returned to his native place and settled at Curham Farm for a great number of years. Mr. Were took an active part in Parish matters, he had filled the office of Chairman of the School Board for several years. Was a Member of the Tiverton District Highway Board, and of the Tiverton Turnpike Trust and also Way-ward for the Parish of Halberton. He was universally respected, and his loss will be deeply felt in the Parish. He leaves a wife and Family."
