"Betty Gibson, beloved wife of Barrie Gibson of Carbon Cliff, passed away Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, where she was a member. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Betty was born in April 1945 in Moline, to Abertus and Pansy Nagle. She married Barrie Gibson, of Kingston, Canada, on April 25, 1964, at the Church of Peace, Rock Island. After returning here in 1980, Betty was a licensed day-care provider. She then worked at Montgomery Ward for nine years. She went on to manage Casey's General Store in Carbon Cliff. She was also the treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 113 in Silvis. Betty enjoyed cross-stitching quilts for family and friends, and doing her ceramics for many years. She adored her family. She is survived by her husband of 41 years; two sons, Charles (Cathy) and Christopher (Kim); brothers Ralph (Mariellen), Roland (Linda), Charles (Norma); her two grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah; and special friends, Frank and Becky Cruse. Her parents preceded her in death."
