SOPHIA (NELL) JONES
Peacefully at home, on Wednesday, December 28, 1994, Sophia (Nell) Jones went to her eternal rest. Nell was born on February 28, 1894 and celebrated her 100th birthday last February. She will be sadly missed by daughter Florence Hendershott of Lakeside, Montana, daughter Phyllis (Allan) Barber of Winnipeg, son John (Dorothy) Jones of Carnduff, Sask., and son Geoff (Julie) Jones of Evansburg, Alta. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Franklin Jones in 1968; a daughter Emily in 1937, son-in-law Harlow Hendershott in 1992; granddaughters, Lorna Margaret Jones in 1952, Denise Jones in 1993, grandson-in-law Wilfred Langlois in 1991. Nell lived in the Dominion City and Greenridge area until the late 1960s when she moved to Winnipeg to live with her daughter Phyllis. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 2, 1995 at 2:00 p.m., at the Dominion City United Church, with Rev. Lesley Calder officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment of ashes at a later date in the Dominion City Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in her memory to Canadian National Institute for the Blind. Special thanks to Faye Plett for being there when the family needed her. Suddenly, on January 11, 1995 at the Concordia Hospital, Allan Barber of Transcona, passed away at the age of 76. He will be sadly missed by his wife Phyllis of 47 years and their children, Cheryl, Betty and Judy (Tim). Allan will also be greatly missed by his two grandchildren, Cori and Stacie. Allan is survived by two sisters, Verna Bohn and Doreen Everall and many nieces and nephews. Allan was born May 15, 1918 and raised in Dominion City. He lived his later years in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents and one sister in infancy. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 14 at the Dominion City United Church with Pastor Lesley Calder officiating. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
