Archie was the 3rd child of Matt and Lucy Moore of Wildes Meadow.
He enjoyed horse riding and was a good all-round sport by the time he finished Bowral High at age 14
He joined the NSWGR and at that time was a proficient horn player, later being recruited to play in the Australian Commonwealth Band and eventually tour the Commonwealth (India, South.Africa, England, and Canada), playing 1st cornet in 1925-27.
He worked for the NSW Railways in Picton, Sydney, Lismore, Orange, Werris Creek and finally back to Sydney, retiring in 1965 and was presented a fishing rod and a gold rail pass for his efforts.
His sports were golf, then bowls when he finished work.
He lived in retirement at Newport with Dalas until his death in 1990 from leukoblastic anaemia.
Dalas Molly CARPENTER [Parents] "Sidder" was born on 16 Nov 1905 in Petersham, New South Wales, Australia. She was christened in Dec 1905 in Petersham, New South Wales, Australia. She died on 09 Jan 1994 in Hornsby, New South Wales, Australia. The cause of death was Respiratory failure. She was buried on 12 Jan 1994 in Burrawang Presbyterian Cemetery, New South Wales. Dalas was the eldest child of George and Molly Carpenter of Croydon.
Dal lived in Croydon above her father's pharmacy and attended Elmswood Primary and PLC Girls High at Croydon.
She assisted both her mother and father at home and in the pharmacy until she met Archie (spotted playing the cornet while marching down Edwin St). They met about 1930 but did not marry until 1935, when Arch felt he was able to support a wife and family.
They were sent by the NSWGR (Railway Dept.) to Orange, where Bruce was born and in 1940 to Werris Creek, where Lyn was born.
Dal always said that the happiest days of her married life were with the friends she met in the country.
On hearing the death of her mother in 1947, the family left for Sydney where they lived for the rest of their lives. First in Croydon (until the shop was sold) then with George for 10 years in Strathfield, after which they moved to Newport Beach in 1962.
Dal had hypothyroidism (after having her goitre removed) but otherwise was a sweet lady who enjoyed good health.
She spent the last couple of years in a gentile ladies home in Gordon until her death in 1994.
