VALID ONLY IF BEARING IMPRESSED COURT SEALThis is the last Will and Testament of me John Lea of 2 Cambridge Villas Cheltenham in the County of Gloucester Gentleman. I hereby revoke all Wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me.
I give and bequeath to such of my Executors hereinafter named as shall accept the trusts of this Will the sum of one hundred pounds each. To the treasurer of the Trustees of Wesley Chapel, Saint Georges Street Cheltenham the sum of Five hundred pounds for repairs and structural improvements of that building.
I give and devise to Mr. Edwin Lea of Gloucester my land called Naunton Piece (containing between five and six acres) absolutely subject nevertheless to the obligation to pay over the clear net income arising therefrom to my Niece Mrs. Sophia Rogers during her lifetime. I give and devise to the said Sophia Rogers my messuage called Park Villa, Cheltenham and the sum of Five hundred pounds. I give to Mrs. Mary Oakey the sum of Three hundred pounds. I give and devise to Mrs. Louisa Jane Humphreys my freehold house No 4 Royal Crescent, Cheltenham. I give and devise my house called Estville, Carlton Street Cheltenham together with the cottage adjoining it facing into Hewlett Street to Mrs. Georgiana Hendren, Mrs. Susannah McCracken and Mrs. Mary Selina Archer jointly for their joint lives and to the surviving two of them for their joint lives. And on the death of any two of them I give and devise the said hereditaments to the last survivor of them absolutely.
I give to my Trustees hereinafter named the sum of Three Thousand pounds Upon trust to invest the same upon any security permitted to Trustees and to pay and divide the resulting income to or between Mrs. Emily Bodill, Miss Adelaide Perkins and Miss Mary Jane Perkins by half yearly payments equally during their joint lives and to the two survivors of them during their joint lives and on the death of any two of them to pay over the capital to the survivor absolutely. I give and bequeath to Mr. William Bodill and Emily his Wife and to the said Adelaide Perkins and Mary Jane Perkins each one separate undivided fourth part of and in my Leasehold House No 210 Hagley Road Edgbaston Birmingham.
All the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever over which I have any disposing power I give, devise and bequeath to Elizabeth Ann Jenking absolutely. Lastly I appoint the said Elizabeth Ann Jenking, the said Edwin Lea of Gloucester and my friend James Batten Winterbotham of Cheltenham Solicitor Executors and Trustees of this my Will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this sixteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and ninety six.

JOHN LEA.--Probate of the will, dated March 16, 1896, and April 29, 1896, of Mr. John Lea, of 2, Cambridge-villas, Cheltenham, who died on the 22nd July, has been granted to Miss Elizabeth Ann Jenking, of Cheltenham; Edwin Lea, upholsterer; and James Batten Winterbotham, solicitor, of Cheltenham, to the two last-named of whom the testator bequeathed £100 each. He bequeathed to the trustees of the Wesley chapel, St. George's-street, Cheltenham, £500; to Mrs. Mary Oakey, £300; to his niece Mrs. Sophia Rogers, £500; and he devised to her his house in Park Place, Cheltenham, and the income during her life of his freehold property at Naunton Piece, which latter property he left, subject to her life interest, to Edwin Lea absolutely. He devised No. 4, Park Crescent, Cheltenham, to Mrs. Louisa Jane Humphreys absolutely, and he left 210, Hagley Road, Edgbaston, in trust to pay one moiety of the income thereof to William and Emily Botill, and the other moiety to Miss Adelaide Perkins and Mary Jane Perkin, or to the survivor, absolutely; and the income from his house called "Estville," in Carlton Street, Cheltenham, equally between Mrs. Georgiana Hendren, Mrs. Susannah McCracken, and Mrs. Mary Selina Archer during their joint lives, or to the survivor absolutely; and he left the residue of his estate to Miss Elizabeth Ann Jenking absolutely. Be It Known that Charlotte Ann Lea (wife of John Lea) late of Cheltenham in the County of Gloucester deceased who died on the seventh day of December 1871 at Cheltenham aforesaid having at the time of her death a fixed place of abode at Cheltenham aforesaid within the District of the County of Gloucester except the present Bristol County Court District and having during her coverture with the said John Lea by virtue of certain powers and authorities given to and vested in her by a certain Indenture of Settlement bearing date the twenty third day of February 1848 and of all other powers and authorities her enabling, made and executed her last Will and Testament bearing date the twenty third day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight and did therein name her Husband the said John Lea sole Executor, and that the said John Lea as the lawful Husband of the said deceased is the sole person entitled to her personal Estate and Effects, over which she had no disposing power, and concerning which she is dead Intestate.And Be It Also Known that on the twenty seventh day of January 1872 Letters of Administration (with the said will annexed) of all and singular the personal Estate and Effects of the said deceased were granted and committed at the District Registry attached to Her Majesty's Court of Probate at Gloucester to the said John Lea of Cheltenham aforesaid Gentleman the lawful Husband of the said deceased the sole Executor named in the said Will he having been first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same by paying the just debts of the said deceased and the legacies contained in her will and distributing the residue of her Estate according to law, and to exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular her personal Estate and Effects and to render a just and true account thereof whenever required by law so to do.

VALID ONLY IF BEARING IMPRESSED COURT SEALThis is the last Will and Testament of me John Lea of 2 Cambridge Villas Cheltenham in the County of Gloucester Gentleman. I hereby revoke all Wills and testamentary dispositions heretofore made by me.
I give and bequeath to such of my Executors hereinafter named as shall accept the trusts of this Will the sum of one hundred pounds each. To the treasurer of the Trustees of Wesley Chapel, Saint Georges Street Cheltenham the sum of Five hundred pounds for repairs and structural improvements of that building.
I give and devise to Mr. Edwin Lea of Gloucester my land called Naunton Piece (containing between five and six acres) absolutely subject nevertheless to the obligation to pay over the clear net income arising therefrom to my Niece Mrs. Sophia Rogers during her lifetime. I give and devise to the said Sophia Rogers my messuage called Park Villa, Cheltenham and the sum of Five hundred pounds. I give to Mrs. Mary Oakey the sum of Three hundred pounds. I give and devise to Mrs. Louisa Jane Humphreys my freehold house No 4 Royal Crescent, Cheltenham. I give and devise my house called Estville, Carlton Street Cheltenham together with the cottage adjoining it facing into Hewlett Street to Mrs. Georgiana Hendren, Mrs. Susannah McCracken and Mrs. Mary Selina Archer jointly for their joint lives and to the surviving two of them for their joint lives. And on the death of any two of them I give and devise the said hereditaments to the last survivor of them absolutely.
I give to my Trustees hereinafter named the sum of Three Thousand pounds Upon trust to invest the same upon any security permitted to Trustees and to pay and divide the resulting income to or between Mrs. Emily Bodill, Miss Adelaide Perkins and Miss Mary Jane Perkins by half yearly payments equally during their joint lives and to the two survivors of them during their joint lives and on the death of any two of them to pay over the capital to the survivor absolutely. I give and bequeath to Mr. William Bodill and Emily his Wife and to the said Adelaide Perkins and Mary Jane Perkins each one separate undivided fourth part of and in my Leasehold House No 210 Hagley Road Edgbaston Birmingham.
All the rest, residue and remainder of my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever over which I have any disposing power I give, devise and bequeath to Elizabeth Ann Jenking absolutely. Lastly I appoint the said Elizabeth Ann Jenking, the said Edwin Lea of Gloucester and my friend James Batten Winterbotham of Cheltenham Solicitor Executors and Trustees of this my Will. In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this sixteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and ninety six.

I revoke the bequest of my leasehold house No 210 Hagley Road Edgbaston contained in my said Will and in lieu thereof I give and bequeath to William Bodill and his Wife Emily in my said Will mentioned one undivided moiety of the said House as Joint tenants with the benefit of survivorship between them and to Adelaide Perkins and Mary Jane Perkins in my said Will mentioned the other undivided moiety thereof as Joint tenants with the benefit of survivorship between them, each moiety to be subject to the discharge of a proportionate share of any obligations affecting the said property as held be me from the time of my decease. WILL OF MR. JOHN LEA.--Probate of the will, dated March 16, 1896, and April 29, 1896, of Mr. John Lea, of 2, Cambridge-villas, Cheltenham, who died on the 22nd July, has been granted to Miss Elizabeth Ann Jenking, of Cheltenham; Edwin Lea, upholsterer; and James Batten Winterbotham, solicitor, of Cheltenham, to the two last-named of whom the testator bequeathed £100 each. He bequeathed to the trustees of the Wesley chapel, St. George's-street, Cheltenham, £500; to Mrs. Mary Oakey, £300; to his niece Mrs. Sophia Rogers, £500; and he devised to her his house in Park Place, Cheltenham, and the income during her life of his freehold property at Naunton Piece, which latter property he left, subject to her life interest, to Edwin Lea absolutely. He devised No. 4, Park Crescent, Cheltenham, to Mrs. Louisa Jane Humphreys absolutely, and he left 210, Hagley Road, Edgbaston, in trust to pay one moiety of the income thereof to William and Emily Botill, and the other moiety to Miss Adelaide Perkins and Mary Jane Perkin, or to the survivor, absolutely; and the income from his house called "Estville," in Carlton Street, Cheltenham, equally between Mrs. Georgiana Hendren, Mrs. Susannah McCracken, and Mrs. Mary Selina Archer during their joint lives, or to the survivor absolutely; and he left the residue of his estate to Miss Elizabeth Ann Jenking absolutely. The late Mr. Lea's personal estate has been valued at £39,688 net, and the whole of his estate at £50,205 gross.
