Notes from Bruce Moore, 2004:
Mary (Molly) was the 8th child of John & Margaret Luraschi who owned a string of hotels in the Forbes and Eugowra district.
After her education and shocked by a suicide drowning in a pond behing their hotel, she moved to Petersham to live with her sisters.
It was here she met and married George Carpenter, a pharmacist who was working for Rogers the Chemist on Parramatta Rd. Sydney.
She had four children and reared them all above the chemist shop in Croydon.
She did not enjoy a healthy life and employed Kay Clarke to help with cooking, cleaning, washing and ironing.
Kay (Catherine Clarke) said that she was diagnosed with shingles in her later life.
Molly took her own life in 1947 by deliberately catching a bus to Drummoyne, neatly folding her clothes on the banks of the Parramatta River and as a non-swimmer, walked into the water and drowned.
