BIRTH: See Hist. & Gen. of The Mathesons, Pg. 8 and 49. "Donald Ban (Bain) Matheson, son of Alexander Matheson of Lochalsh, fled to Caithness in 15th century and became progenitor of the Mathesons of Shiness, Achany, and the Lews.

BIRTH: Imputed from information in Hist. & Gen. of The Mathesons, Pg. 1 to 8 and 49. - Common ancestor of the Mathesons of Sutherlandshire and those of Lochalsh. DEATH: See Hist. & Gen. of The Mathesons, Pg 7 - 8 - Was taken to Edinburgh following a battle in which Lord Sutherland was killed and was beheaded there. He left two sons, John (heir to Lohalsh) and Donald Ban who fled to Sutherlandshire.
