  • the one and only true God
  • a member of the Trinity (Matt. 3: 16)
  • equal in power, knowledge, and presence to the other members of the Trinity (I Cor. 2: 10b)

What are the tasks of the Holy Spirit?

  • there are many tasks in regard to our salvation, the continuing of God's kingdom, and the furtherance of the gospel

  • calls upon the sinner (Rev. 22: 17)
  • awakens the sinner's conscience (John 16: 8)
  • responsible for four aspects which define our salvation
    1. justification (I Cor. 6: 11)
    2. regeneration (John 3: 3-8)
    3. adoption (Gal. 4: 6-7)
    4. sanctification (II Thess. 2: 13)

Through the work of the Holy Spirit we are

  • given faith in Jesus Christ
  • made righteous before God
  • grafted into Christ and given all His benefits
  • washed clean so that we become more and more dead to sin and begin to lead a holy and blameless life

How do we show that the Holy Spirit is working in our hearts?

  • showing fruits of thankfulness (Gal. 5: 22-23)
