About Erin

Well, hi there!

I guess you'd like a little inside information on me. You are wondering to yourself: who is this fascinating person?

I'm not so sure myself, but I can tell you some of my other interests.

I am fascinated by the New Science. Cosmology, quantum physics, field theory, chaos theory: readin g this stuff is my idea of a good time!

I am committed to environmental and social responsibility. It goes beyond supporting environmental groups and voting Green: I am one of those people who washes out plastic bags for reuse and browbeats her relatives into using real plates. I stand up for a lot of issues, as my hat buttons will attest. (I have a bit of a reputation from that hat!) I'm always on the lookout for new, pithy buttons, even if it does rock people's boats. Well, be honest: because it rocks boats! Education is a powerful thing!

I'm also (and this is related to all the above) a dedicated student of comparative religion and spirituality.

I study yoga through Swami Radha's teachings, and highly recommend her! What an amazing journey she has led me on. And the best part is that it has made, and continues to make, incredible positive changes in my life and relationships.

I also practice Vipassina meditation (although not as regularly as I should).

I read Tarot cards (my favourites are the Medicine Cards, Motherpeace, Daughters of the Moon.) (I also enjoy Russian Gypsy Tarot cards: how could you not like a deck that comes up with jewels like 'Love is not a potato'?) I dabble in astrology and feng shui.

But my preference is palmistry, simply because it's always available. (Bored in a line up, nothing to read: pull out your hand!) I wish I knew something about numerology, because I sure need some done!

I have a background in education, business and office management, counselling, and alternative health, and don't really use any of them, at least, not for profit.

I have an awful lot of skills I'm not really using yet (see this whole page). But I plan to put all my various skills to use in a spiritual centre that has called me to create it: Rose Moon Spiritual Centre.

I'm sort of a Buddhist, Hinduist, Goddess/Earth worshipper. I identify mainly as Wiccen but follow some philosophies of Buddha (mainly thru Vipassina meditation) and Hinduism (mainly thru Swami Radha). I also take inspiration from Jesus, Jews, Quakers, and wherever I find truth and guidance toward peaceful living. I don't really differentiate much between religions: I look for the spirituality that of them has to offer. Life is my religion, my teacher, my Deity.

I live in a little octagon post-and-beam house with a dog, currently two cats, and my love Jamie. She's an amazing person, as anyone who knows her will attest. (A common complaint is that there isn't enough of her, and we should get clones. The current order is for 18.) She identifies mainly as a firefighter, a carpenter, and a 10th century Viking (the Society for Creative Anachronism is one of her favourite things!). You will see some of her work in the future. She'll probably have a website selling her handmade cloaks, and various woodworking and metalworking things.

We'd like to raise chickens and horses and all our own fruits and vegetables...one day we'll have enough space for it. We do really enjoy gardening. Especially anything that grows well under terms of abandonment. Kale and potatoes love us!

We are aiming for self-sufficiency and an environmentally responsible lifestyle. It's a work in progress.

Our lifestyle here is quite rustic. The house is heated with a wood stove, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. There is something so elementally satisfying and pleasing about heating your home with a fire. The same goes with the outhouse. Oh, sure, whenever there's a flu I seriously reconsider getting indoor "plumbing." But I truly enjoy the walk out thru the trees, being outdoors for a few minutes, often in weather I'd never voluntarily go out into. It brings me to a level of aliveness, awareness, and joy that I easily neglect while toiling away at my computer or reading the Wu Li Masters or whatever.

Or watching Star Trek. Or Xena. (I hesitate to say these, as I know what kind of image is brought up in people's minds. But I am a fan. Jamie and I see a little too much of ourselves in Xena & Gabrielle, and as my friend's band, Wormy Harold, once sang, 'Watching Star Trek could save your life!')

Or watching nature and science programs, which is my tv of choice.

My very best thing, though, my happiest existence is when I'm sleeping under the trees in a tent, meditating or dancing on the beach, or watching the full Moon rise above me.

Well, that may be more about me than you really wanted to know. But I guess the picture is a little broader now.

Thanks for checking in!

With Blessings,

e
