Rehabilitation and Conditioning Programs

| Post-MVA Program |

Purpose
To restore an individual's ability to complete his/her ADL/physical work demands to pre-accident levels. Additionally, clients receive education on pain control and exercise to control their symptoms.
Who Qualifies?
This program is suitable for individuals who have sustained soft tissue injuries (Grade I to III WAD) as a result of a motor-vehicle accident and have been off work more than 4 weeks due to injury.
What's Involved?
An individualized program involving strength and endurance exercises, cardiovascular exercises, work simulation exercises, and regular functional testing geared towards restoring an individual's ability to complete his/her ADL/physical work demands. Individuals attend the program 3-5 times per week, 1-4 hours per day, for up to 6 weeks.

| Work Conditioning Program |

Purpose
To restore an individual's ability to complete his/her pre-injury work duties and hours.
Who Qualifies?
This program is suitable for individuals who have sustained an injury on or off work and require a conditioning program to help them safely return back to their pre-injury duties and hours. It is intended for individuals who have been off work more than 4 weeks due to injury and have a job to return to.
What's Involved?
An individualized program involving strength and endurance exercises, cardiovascular exercises, work simulation exercises, and regular functional testing geared towards returning the individual back to work at pre-injury duties and hours. Individuals attend the program 3-5 times per week, 1-4 hours per day, for up to 6 weeks.

| Maximum Function Program |

Purpose
To help an individual attain maximal overall function in their leisure, vocational and daily living activities.
Who Qualifies?
This program is suitable for individuals who do not have a specific job to return to, are trying to attain max function to aid with future vocational/rehabilitation decisions, or are retraining for a new job. This program is geared to those with a significant degree of chronicity, or LTD, have been off work for an extended period of time, and may require a significant amount of behavioral intervention.
What's Involved?
A multifaceted approach with a significant physical and behavioral component and the goal of attaining maximal function. Strength, endurance, cardiovascular and functional exercises are involved as well as symptom control techniques and detailed symptom management strategies for the individual to use outside of the program.

| Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) |

Purpose
To objectively evaluate an individual's current functional capacity over a wide range of functional tasks. The FCE is performed over one or two days.
Who Qualifies?
This evaluation is suitable for an individual that requires a full functional capacity profile to measure job suitability or help with future vocational/rehabilitation decisions.
What's Involved?
The FCE involves a well-planned evaluation that includes specific standardized tests that objectively measure an individual's functional abilities and concurrent degree of reliability and physical effort.

| Pool Program |

Purpose
To provide a safe, individualized and physiotherapist-supervised aquatic rehabilitation program.
Who Qualifies?
This program is suitable for a wide variety of individuals. Some indicators include arthritic joints, strains/sprains, arthroplasty, and should injuries.
What's Involved?
This program offers a non-weight-bearing environment and low load exercises. An individual can work to improve range of motion and build endurance. Advantages of this program include cardiovascular benefits.
