for participants to shortcut through others campsites. Please ask your group to
respect others campsites and walk around them.
- The Camping Field is fairly Rough in
Stubble, so be prepared with durable ground sheets! The surface may be fairly
dusty by the weekend. Bring Rakes and Shovels.
- Scout Uniforms are not required, however
participants should wear their group neckerchief to the Opening and Closing
Ceremonies.
- General Information and Organisation Meeting at B.P. House 2140 Brownsea Drive
N.W. Calgary
September 19 2006 at 19:30.
- In keeping with the theme, only "technology" that
was available before 1945 is permitted during the GREAT ESCAPE GAME (ie no GPS's, modern radios, night vision scopes, walkmans,
etc.) The Adult with the "Patrol" may carry a frs radio on Channel 9 to contact HQ in case of emergency
only.
- Leaders who accompany Scouts during the Great Escape Event Saturday evening
must be courteous to all participants when sorting out disputes.
- For clarification of paperwork required for
participants, we offer the following:
A note
from Doug MacDonald, Executive Director of Scouts Canada Chinook
Region, says:
"Scouting takes our duty
of care for youth very seriously.
There
must be no youth participating that aren't Scouts Canada members
except Girl Guides who we have a reciprocal agreement with so they don't need
hold harmless agreements. We can't provide duty of care to youth who aren't
members - meaning their application and fees have been submitted to the council
office.
That leaves a few parents and resource people who aren't
members. As event organizers, you are responsible for making sure that the
screening and supervision outlined in BP&P Section 3000 is followed. Since
these adults are at camp overnight, they must provide a PRC clear of criminal
convictions. We'll need their applications in our office at least a week in
advance to get them processed.
I know this
sounds like a lot of work but our duty of care is job 1 for all of
us.
Doug"
