The CAT committee
is a new committee formed this year to address the membership's
needs in the areas of curriculum, assessment, and testing. The
committee looks at current hot button issues within the educational
field, liaises with other agencies such as Alberta Learning,
Specialist Councils, and the Provincial ATA, and is working
on putting together a support network of teachers for teachers.

| The
Economic Policy Committee consists of 12 elected members.
Throughout their term of office, all members of the EPC are
expected to monitor the collective agreement in terms of its
application, its efficacy, and its current relevance for the
membership. Ideas for improvements, changes, or additions are
discussed. Within the EPC, two other committees are formed.
The Negotiating Subcommittee consists of 5 members. They
work with all EPC members to research and prepare a proposal
for changes to the Collective Agreement. They 'go to the table'
to work out a deal with board representatives. The Grievance
Committee consists of 2 people who are involved with disputes
regarding the application of the collective agreement. |

This
committee meets regularly to discuss policy changes put forth
by the school board for feedback. Members of this committee
meet regularly with the superintendent, trustee representatives
and at times associate superintendents or directors. The feedback
received from teachers regarding the proposed changes and other
issues of concern are discussed with this larger group (T.B.C.C.
- Teacher Board Consultation Committee). |
