Empennage

This is what the first kit shipment looks like. It was quite overwhelming at first, but didn't take long to get it done.

This is the first assembly,

the horizontal stabilizer clecoed together in a cradle.

These are a few pictures detailing the construction of the empennage section consisting of the horizontal & vertical stabilizer, rudder, elevators & electric trim tab. These pics start with the opening of the boxes and show the assembly of a bunch of strange looking parts into the tail of an airplane.

The empennage is the normal place to start construction as it is a small investment that gets you started. It exposes the builder to a variety of construction techniques and most pieces are relatively inexpensive, so the learning curve isn't to expensive should parts be destroyed.

Fortunately I survived this kit without having to replace anything. I have one small mark that will have a little filler in it.

This section of my kit is built as per plans with no custom work, so I won't bore anyone with details of it.

The vertical stabilizer skeleton, on the "H" jig.

I riveted it on the table, as it made it much simpler
