Ian's Page

Ian is 4 now! (His birthday is February 17th.) He's a big fan of diggers and dozers, and enjoys his friends at preschool and his art. He's also quite the conversationalist on the phone, so relatives often get quite a story (not all of which is sequential) when Ian says hi :-)

Ian's a very good big brother and enjoys playing with "Shoni" (as he's nicknamed her). Here's a picture of Ian and Shona on the tire swing in the park ("don't fall out Shoni!").

Make a funny face for the camera.

Ian loves playing at the local park.

Ian wanted to dress up as a clown to show Daddy on our picnic lunch.

He also likes to make sure that "Shoni" dresses up too.

Clowns

Ian enjoys feeding the pigeons at Granville Island, and they love him too, especially on a rainy day when they don't get many visitors.

Ian loves painting his face and dressing up in costumes. For a three-year-old, any day can be Halloween. Here's Ian as a cat ... watch out for his claws!

Below is Ian in a more natural moment, walking in the woods with Simon.

Ian seldom suffers from the terrible twos anymore (now the terrible 4s), and while he can do a pretty good job of pretending to cry, in general he is getting more thoughtful and grownup. Maybe he's growing up too much -- here (below) he looks like the stereotype of the tortured artist ... okay, maybe not, but still very serious. He looked at this picture and said "Oh, I'm sad." Jen said, "No, you've painted yourself as a rainbow." To which Ian replied "I'm a sad rainbow."

Ian still loves his marble set, and has become very good at monitoring Shona to ensure she doesn't put marbles in her mouth (otherwise it has to get put away). She is starting to get the hang of them too, and likes pouring them from a cup into the start gate. Ian still calls them "Narbles", and still often gives colour commentary when he launches them into action: "Ready, GO! Round and round! Some jump, some zig-zag!! Bink-a-bink! All done!" He builds brilliant setups, with jumps and all, only calling for help when something fails to work correctly.
