George emigrated to Canada (Grantham Twsp)
Ontario about 1842 with his brother James. George and family seem to have disappeared. It would be nice if at least some of the descendents of George or James Hindson who came to Upper Canada around 1842 and settled in Grantham Twsp, Lincoln County, could be located. The Farm: Total acres held 200, under cultivation 150, under crops 150, under pasture 67, under orchards 8, under wood-wild 50; Cash value of farm $12,000, cash value of equipment $200: Crops wheat, oats, barley, brech wheat, corn, turnips. Steers, heffers, cows George died in 1863 of dropsy (an abnormal swelling of the joints and body cavities due to the build-up of clear watery fluid.) The farm was sold as it longer appears under Hindson in the 1871 Census. George's death, may have influenced his brother James in selling the farm and moving away. The price that he would get for it would allow James to live quite well. Sarah was buried from St. George's Anglican, Aug 19, 1872, The 1871 Census includes a Michael (2 years of age) living with Sarah - Michael could be either Sarah's or Anne J's son. If Sarah's son he would not be from George who died in 1863. |
| 8 | Anne J. b: 1852 Sarah E. b: 1855 |
Acc to 1861 Census (C1048) - therefore age of wife and children could be one year out. |
