Great Grandfather to Ralph Hindson of Ottawa
and Jack Hindson of Erie Pa, USA. A stonemason, master stone carver,
farmer. A man of many parts. Lived at Briscoe Hall, near Newbiggen; at Birkthwaite near Mellguards; then Hackinbag and lastly Howfield. The last two he owned, plus about 175 acres that surrounded them. Willliam # 7 did the stone carving at St. Mary's at Wreay, at Newbiggin Hall, and at the local wells, and quite possibly Howfield. A learned man with an excellent library. Kind to in-laws and relatives, some of whom spent their last days at Howfield. |
