William Ernest was brought up in Dunneville, Ontario. A Graduate of McMaster University. He was a Baptist minister on Beechtown, Georgetown and Guelph. Captain, Chaplain, 153rd Batallion;Chief Publc representative, Dept of Justice, Military District No 1, M.S.A.  He died in active service in 1918. William Ernest is buried Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, London, Ontario.

Each year,  on September 14th. the page bearing his name can be seen at the memorial Chapel in the Parliament Buildings in Ottawa.
