HOPE YAMA DOJO
Who We Are
Hope Yama Dojo is a place to learn, and train in, Isshin Ryu Karate, a
martial art founded in Okinawa in the mid-1950s by Master Tatsuo
Shimabuku. Our Dojo offers Isshin Ryu Karate from the Sensei A.J.
Advincula lineage, as well as Ryukyu Kobudo from the Taira Shinken lineage.
Students as young as five years old, with or without previous karate
ability, are welcomed at Hope Yama Dojo. Our Sensei, Norm Losier,
has 36 years experience in martial arts, and is a 7th degree black
belt (Nana Dan) in Isshin Ryu Karate. Sensei teaches his classes with
skilfulness, enthusiasm, energy and dedication.

Our Website's Purpose
Hope Yama Dojo has had an Internet presence since 2001, when it was
first created by Dojo student Jackie Gartner. The website's maintenance
was subsequently taken over by Yvonne Demoskoff, who re-styled the
site in April 2003. A major
renovation to the website took place in July 2005.
Our website's purpose is to inform both the casual and interested
reader about our Dojo, Isshin Ryu Karate and Ryukyu Kobudo, to keep
in touch with current and former students, and to provide original
and accurate material that is faithful to Master Shimabuku and
Sensei A.J. Advincula's vision of Isshin Ryu.
We invite you to visit us, observe a class, or train with us. We look forward
to seeing you!
