On September /84, he started building up students and developing his reputation as a Martial Artist in the North Island, as well as on the Island of Vancouver.

Through a lot of devotion and hard work, Sensei and some of his old time students have built a strong Dojo over the years, which is continuing to develop stronger every year in the local communities, as well as in the International Martial Arts Industry. Some of the communities Sensei DeToro has devoted his time in  teaching this Art are; Port Hardy and Port Alice, since 1984, and in September 1996 in Port Mc Neill and also Zeballos. This Dojo's are  becoming stronger as well with up-coming advanced students. The great respect that student have develop for the Art over the years and the support to the Sensei, has contribute to increase the knowledge in their community. Sensei earned his Black Belt level with his Sensei Raul Puchi, before he left Chile in 1984.  When he signed up with I.S.K.F/J.K.A. in 1992 the organization required that he re-exam his Shodan (first black belt) level again.  Dec. 2001, he earned his Yondan, these ranks he received are recognized as an International J.K.A. Certification. This was a great gift to his students as well, because now when his students test their levels they will have to be respected no matter where they live.

Also his daughters Caterina and Natasha, contributes with the participation in his classes, making the dojo very much like one big family.
