Erin James is a graduate of the violin performance program at the University of British Columbia. She studied with professors Jasper Wood and Andrew Dawes during her degree and had opportunity to work with many other esteemed teachers in coaching sessions and summer music programs. Erin takes great pleasure in chamber music and in addition to the Jacobean Trio has been a member of the Etta String Quartet as well performing as a violinist in several different ensembles. Over the years, Erin has partaken in several summer music programs including Morningside Music Bridge, the Victoria Conservatory Summer String Academy, the Banff Centre for the Arts and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada for which she shared the position of concertmaster. She is the recipient of many awards and scholarships including the UBC Harry Adaskin Scholarship and the Vancouver Friends of Chamber Music prize. Erin will travel to Asia in the Fall with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and plans to pursue a Master's degree in violin performance.
