Kendra James was born in Canada in 1987. She began to study violin at the age of four and changed to viola at fourteen. Her teachers have included Isabelle Roland and Gerald Stanick. Kendra has participated in prestigious summer festivals throughout Canada including Morningside Music Bridge and Pinchas Zukerman's Young Artists Programme. In 2006 Kendra performed as a soloist with the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra before travelling to China to work with Rennie Regher, Roberto Diaz and members of the Shanghai String Quartet. Kendra is currently a full scholarship student at the Colburn School of Music in Los Angeles, California, where she studies with Paul Coletti.
