FreeBMD (Birth, Marriage, Death). Access to the Civil Registration index for England and Wales. Once you have the record information (district, volume, and page number) from this site, you can order the record from the General Register Office in Britian (see below)
General Register Office - Births, Deaths, and Marriages registration
For ordering Birth, Death, or Marriage Registration Records from Britain. It is cheaper if you know the reference information of the record you wish to order. You can find that info at any Family History Research Center (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - see website mentioned above), or on the FreeBMD site (see website mentioned above). If you do not have the reference information of the record, you can still place an order for it provided that you know enough information about the individual, but it will be a bit more expensive.
Make sure you request a FULL certificate.
