helping you design and build your landscape
to get the most from your outdoor living space

low-impact, ecologically sound practices
I understand that each particular place on the planet is part of a larger, regional ecosystem. This in turn is part of larger and larger ecosystems. Whatever we do affects the area around us and far beyond.

I choose to use methods which will have the least impact on the environment, and which will not contaminate it. With you, I will try to work in harmony with, rather than trying to conquer, Nature.

site-appropriate, low-maintenance designs and plantings
Low-maintenance should be just that. Although "no-maintenance" landscaping doesn’t exist, many people want to spend less time doing regular yard chores. Comparing equal areas through the gardening season, a lawn takes more precious working time than a low-maintenance landscape takes. Some low-maintenace gardens may need to be cleaned up and cut back only once a year.
Many people don’t want to spend lots of time and effort with plants that require constant attention. I can help you to choose plants that will grow well and look good in your particular situation.

indigenous plant materials
Where appropriate, I think that this is a good place to start. Obviously, plants that are native to the area are adapted to its climate. They do well here. Many are strikingly beautiful, and some produce delicious fruit. Many will attract birds and butterflies or offer food and shelter to other creatures.
The trick is to choose appropriate plants:
What attributes do I want?
Will this plant grow well in this climate?
Is it suitable for the site I have in mind?
Will it enhance my property?

I can help you get it right.

I can help you in 3 ways:
  • Consultation and Design
    • initial consultation — discovering your wants and needs;
    • initial CAD mapping;
    • ongoing consultation;
    • concurrent design development; and
    • production of final drawings

  • Building and Planting
    • building and installing, or otherwise arranging for building and installing, all hardscape
      (beds, paths/pavings, structures, etc.); and
    • acquiring and planting all specified plants.

  • Maintenance
    • regularly or seasonally keeping all aspects of your landscape looking its best;
    • acquiring the services of an arborist or other specialist for you; or
    • guiding you to various other options.
