Gum Therapy

Gum Therapies can halt or repair the damage caused by gum disease - provided the intervention is performed early enough. The above photographs demonstrate the effectiveness of early intervention. Prior to treatment, both premolars had significant gum recession and inadequate attached gingiva. If left alone, the gum recession would continue to a point where the teeth would ultimately be lost. Fortunately, gum therapy was performed and the gingiva was restored to its healthy state.

The procedure performed above is called a Periodontal Graft. Essentially, the gum recession is repaired by placing a small piece of tissue over the recession site, and letting it heal into place. The procedure takes no more than an hour to perform and most patients report feeling no pain or discomfort during or after the procedure. Once the gingiva has fully integrated the tissue graft, the gum should remain problem-free & stable for many years.
