Wisdom Teeth - Bone Loss around Wisdom Teeth
If a wisdom tooth is partially erupted, it actually forms a path for bacteria
(naturally present in the oral cavity) to tract downward toward the bone.
Because partially erupted wisdom teeth are not
easily reached for when one brushes and flosses, the bacteria can
multiply rapidly. This can lead to infection of the bone
surrounding the wisdom tooth.
