As impacted wisdom teeth erupt, they often push against the roots of the
adjacent molars. If the direction
and the pressure on adjacent tooth is excessive and unforgiving, the adjacent
molar will often suffer resorption (body breaking itself down) or decay.
Leaving such a problem unattended to may result in the loss of more than just
the wisdom teeth. If left unchecked, the adjacent molars may also need to
be removed.
It is a good idea to consider extracting wisdom teeth, especially impacted ones,
before such damage can occur.
