| Our Volkswagen
Westfalias. We originally
started out with a 1969 VW transporters which we bought for a
dollar. Needed new engine and transmission. It had a birch log for a bumper, we ended calling the
van Woodstock. Unfortunately we have no pictures. Next van
was
a 1986 auto Westy, this without a doubt was the nicest van.
It
was virtually in show room condition. We sold it and
were without a van for a few years. After missing having
a Westfalia
we bought our next van,
Peggy Sue, she is a 1979 Westfalia. As you can see
she is in good shape. She came into our family in
the fall of 98. The first major trip we did
was the summer of 99. We went to Drumheller,
Cypress Hills, Writing On Stone, Waterton Lakes
National Park, Kananaskis Park, Banff National
Park then home to Edmonton. One weekend we drove
from Edmonton to Jasper and stayed for the night. Then we drove down Parkway 93 through Nordegg to
Hwy 2 the home to Edmonton. She has been to
Nordegg and Sylvan Lake many times. We have completed two trips to Long Beach on Vancouver Island.
She liked
to cruise. The next and current Westfalia van we have is a 1990.
We bought the van from a couple in Victoria in August 2006.
That fall my wife and I spent
one week in and around Jasper. We went for a day trip to Mount
Robson (Kinney Lake). We are looking forward to
completing a few trips in 2007 with her.
