Breeding of orcas and other cetaceans in captivity is just as morally reprehensible as taking them from the wild. It is no different than breeding humans for slavery. Captivity and captive breeding is always dependent on capturing more whales and dolphins from the wild. It encourages the multi-billion dollar captivity industry.

Whales and dolphins are social beings, and live in family groupings. For example, in the wild, female orcas live with their mother, sisters and cousins for the duration of the mother's life. In captivity, the bond between the mother and the babies is often broken when the young orcas are sold to other aquariums.

All human-made facilities for whales and dolphins are totally inadequate, and relative to their status in the wild, aquariums and marine parks maintain these animals under cruel and miserable conditions.

Whales routinely travel up to a hundred miles a day in the ocean and keeping them captive is cruel and inhumane. The ocean is their domain. Keeping them in small pools is no different than keeping a human in a closet for a lifetime.
