Relationship to the Specie
… While captivity did raise human awareness about whales thirty -five years ago, we no longer need captivity to maintain human understanding and empathy for the specie (just as we do not need to keep indigenous people in cages for us to have empathy for their plight in different parts of the world); captivity is a thing of the past.
Scientific Justification
… Much of what could be learned about whales in captivity has already been done over the past thirty five years... more can be learned about whales in captivity by studying them in the wild than the other way around...there is little value in further captivity studies for conserving the species in the wild.
