John Lee is a British-born travel and feature writer living in Vancouver, Canada.

He has taught English in Japan, travelled on the Trans-Siberian Railway and helped build an igloo. In 1998, he was awarded an MA in Political Science by the University of Victoria, Canada.

John writes on a diverse range of subjects, including travel, literature, culture, food and beer. He is a professional member of the Travel Media Association of Canada and the Society of American Travel Writers. He serves on the advisory committee of the Print Futures: Professional Writing program at Douglas College , was a judge for the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe Festival Allen Wright award for talented young writers and won a 2005 Award of Excellence from the North American Travel Journalists Association. In 2006, he won Tourism B.C.'s Travel Media Award for his exceptional coverage of the region and won two further runner-up prizes in the North American Travel Journalists Association annual travel writing awards. Recently profiled in Financial Post Magazine and BC Business Magazine, he has been a Lonely Planet author since 2004: his latest guidebooks on Vancouver and Canada came out in 2008. Also in 2008, he won the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Award for Journalistic Achievement in Responsible Tourism Reporting from the Travel Media Association of Canada, was shortlisted for a Visit Britian travel writing award in the newspaper category, became a contributing editor at BC Business Magazine and was a judge for the annual Whistler Readers and Writers Festival Select Writing Award.
