As you can see I am also a John Greaves, I come from a long line of coal miners
who all shared the name of John Greaves. The family moved from the north east of
England down to Rotherham in the early 50s to carry on the coal mining
tradition. However the mines are nearly all closed down now due to the Thatcher

What a delight to say pictures from boundary country. In my opinion you are among the luckiest persons in this world!
Last summer we traveled around Canada for three weeks in a camper and stopped overnight to visit my husbands niece/cousin in Midway. They have a beautiful range there. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the country, the silence, the flora and fauna.
I'd never thought I'd be longing for another country than my own so much. But once in a while I need to se how it was, how friendly the people are, how immense the country.
We'd love to immigrate (I even bought the Illustrated History of Canada to get to know more) but I'm afraid that in the end it's a idle plan. Too hard and unsure to star all over without the warm blanket of nearby family......
So if you walk out in your garden tomorrow morning, or drive up to Midway,
please think of me, look around for me and love the country for me.
I hope we can make it back one day. To stay, God willing.

I've heard that GREAVES originally might have referred to the knee part of the
