Graduate student opportunity in juvenile salmonid growth and physiology
Graduate (M.Sc.) opportunity in the adaptive ecology/growth physiology of juvenile salmonids. Selection for an optimal growth rate represents one of the most fundamental but understudied adaptations among freshwater fishes. Research will focus on understanding the adaptive tradeoffs that underlie differences in habitat use and growth between juveniles of different west coast salmonid species and life history forms (e.g. coho vs. steelhead, resident vs. anadromous trout). Field and lab work will be based out of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. Students with an interest and background in physiology and growth of salmonids preferred. Applicants please forward a CV or contact Dr. Jordan Rosenfeld (Jordan.rosenfeld@gov.bc.ca, http://www3.telus.net/jordanrosenfeld ) or Dr. Jeff Richards (jrichard@zoology.ubc.ca, http://www.zoology.ubc.ca/person/jrichard) for more information.
