June 6, 2004 The Simple Life by Marcel Chartier One very obvious advantage for the "average working guy/gal" is that, usually we aren't used to the high life. This means that we won't miss what we don't know. The other component to this is that the more you have, the more you have to maintain and fix. It’s a luxury surcharge of sorts. The best example I can give is a car or truck. Usually the bigger the car, the more features it has, the more expensive it is to maintain. I costs more to fill up, it costs more to fix, to insure, to repair - especially when the expensive features need repair. Life is like a car. The more features you add, the more to go wrong. Want a less expensive and less stressful life? Reduce the features that can go wrong. Simplicity is deciding to live mostly with what you need instead of what you may "want" ... because usually what you want is not really what you get, because you always get unseen components with anything, whether large or small, positive or negative. Choosing simpler ways in an ongoing manner method of adding peace and dollars to your life through a cumulative process. Have you ever chatted with someone who has undergone life simplification? - Someone who sold the big house, now lives in a condo, sold the big status vehicle, now have a basic mode of transport (or in some cases now use public transportation). Usually they are happier, more relaxed- and wealthier. Go figure. Less is more, especially if you had too much, too many features in your life to go wrong. © julymoon.com |
