MCBA West Coast
Chapter Spring Show, May31, 2008, Seattle, WA
We left our two older children with
Grandma and Grandpa and went on a road trip with the baby and
three of our chins. It was an honor to have Rich
Ryerson fly out and be our judge, and it was great fun to
meet more MCBA U.S. members.

Romeo and Ophelia's dark ebony daughter, Audrey, did very well - the
judge loved the colour of her fur and stated that the only
thing holding her back from 1A was her size.

MCBA Field Day,
September 10, 2005, Langley, BC
Our first event for the newly-formed West
Coast Chapter of the MCBA, this was a very exciting and successful day. I
took four of my girls to the show and they all did very well. I also
brought home two new boys, Hamlet and Orlando.

Our First
Show
We attended our first chinchilla show on April
2nd, 2005, in Vernon, BC. The show was sponsored by the NCBC
(National Chinchilla Breeders of Canada), of which BC Chinchilla
House is now a proud member. It was fascinating to witness what
happens at a show - we learned a lot and had fun! We only took
Ophelia with us since it was our first time and we didn't want to
be overwhelmed. Ophelia won a first place ribbon (even though I
hadn't groomed her in advance), and we also brought home a first
place "1B" black velvet girl from Blue Vale Chinchillas, whom
we've named Beatrice.
All the chins in the show are broken down into
many "classes" based on colour and age (junior or senior). In
each class, the best animal is judged "1A," then comes "1B."
After that come the rest of the first place animals, then the
second place animals, and finally the third place animals. An
animal that is put in the first place group has no major
imperfections and is recommended for breeding.
