The Band
What is it?:
Well, I would like to be in a band. So would alot of my friends! So howabout forming one? No need for any established musical talent or experience; that's part of the charm, we'd all be pretty much learning as we go, with little to no expectations other than having fun while at it.
So if I'm going to join?...:
Well, firstly, nearly everyone is going to say "vocals!" (edit: before I got around to posting this, someone literally did such). In theory anyone could sing; whether they could sing well or not isn't in question. After all, it's not a requirement to be good at playing whatever instrument you supply. Hell, you don't have to have ever played it before in your life, as long as you have it and can try. As to what instrument, it really doesn't matter much. An instrument you'd actually want to play, really (with one or two exceptions). I go on a bit more elsewhere on the topic.
Current "Members":
Keith Z-G, Various Guitars
Erin Goldie, Bass Guitar (theoretically)
Erin Kowalski, Sax (if I get around to fixing up one of the ones for her)
Linden Couteret, Clarinet
Blaine Thompson, Flute
Erich Welz, Keyboard (maybe), maybe something else if he can find it
Philip Wright-Lindl, Random Percussion (theoretically)
Amie Bursie, Electric Guitar (if she ever gets the guts into it and an amp)
Kim(ie), expressed interest in morroccas and tambourine
Laura Z-G, Tin Whistle and extensive knowledge of useless music theory
(As you can see, already building Ska-level member sizes, but after all, what is the likelihood of having everyone in one place at once? This is mainly theoretical. Dear lord it would sound weird if we actually had everyone playing.)
(No, you can't call lead singer! No one can, dammit!)
Name?:
Good question. Below are the suggestions so far.
Keith suggested "Eintkilfa" and then was like, "naw, not really, that was just the first name that came to mind".
Blaine suggested something about "Lesbian Monkeys", I forget the rest of the words.
Keith suggested "The Hardly-Able-To's" after remembering that Manchild episode.
Goldie suggested something awhile back and it was somewhat witty, but I completely forgot, and I suspect she might've, too.
Goldie suggested later "Fear The Tentacle", but it was later somewhat admitted by consensus that this sounds more like an album title.
The band name is Insinuation.
Or, uhh, maybe Insinuate, I/we keep flip-flopping.
