| This is the only species of abalone found in B.C. waters althought these days it is a rare site. For years now B.C. waters have been closed to all abalone fishing, but the species is a notoriously slow grower. It can be identified by the row of holes along one edge of the shell. |

| This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling. |
