Latin Name: Chionoecetes bairdi
Geographic Range: Ranges form the Bering Sea to Oregon
SCUBA Divers Info:
You can identify this crab by it's long legs rounded carapace and small claws. I usually see this crab in the spring on night dives over sand or mud bottoms. It seems to come up to breed at this time since I usually see a male holding on to a smaller female.
**B**Beachwalkers Info:
This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling.
