A great photo subject the origin of the name Convict fish is obvious. These fish are common throughout B.C. and has a communal relationship with some anemones similar to clown fish, although I find it rare to actually observe this relationship, it is documanted in scientific literature. In breeding season the colour of the male darken considerably.

This animal does not usually inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling.
