Iridescent algae
Latin Name:	Iridea, Gymnogongrus
Geographic Range:	Certainly all of B.C. but beyond that I don't know.
SCUBA Divers Info:
Definitely the most colourful algae in British Columbia waters. The colour could be deep red, emerald green or blue. Specimens from farther north and in deeper water seem to have the brightest colour.

You can find iridea on beach walks where it often looks like it has been coated with oil, because of the rainbow sheen it has..
