Geographic Range: Range is from northern Japan around the Aleutians and down to California.

Lined chitons might be the most beautiful chiton in B.C. waters. Their colours can vary drastically from browns to bright greens and blues. They can be identified by the spots on the girdle (the part of the body visible around the plates).

Many species of chitons can be found on rocks at low tide, they are however usually more drab coloured than those in the subtidal zone..
