Rock Scallop

Latin Name:

Crassedoma giganteum

Geographic Range:

Range is from the Queen Charlotte Islands to Baja.

SCUBA Divers Info:

Easy to miss because it is often overgrown with life, rock scallops can get as large as a small dinner plate. They take many years to develop so are easy to destroy in an area with careless harvesting by divers, best to leave the be.

**B**Beachwalkers Info:

This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling.
