Latin Name: Sebastes maliger
Geographic Range: Range is from Alaska to California.

A common rockfish that is usually found individually or in small groups, smaller specimens often around the openings of Boot sponges. Easily identified by the dorsal fin with prominent spines and the dark back half of the body.
**B**Beachwalkers Info:
This animal does not inhabit the intertidal zone so you are very unlikely to find it beachwalking or tidepooling.
